On Sunday January 24, 2021 at 2134 hours Company 95 was dispatched for a structure fire reported chimney fire at 75 Popodickon Drive. On arrival crews found the entire are of the neighborhood was covered with smoke and there was smoke coming from the chimney and the inside of the house was filled with smoke. Crews entered the house and went to the basement to remove the logs that were burning in that fireplace. Another crew went to the roof to work from the top down while others were checking the entire house for hot spots. Crews used chimney flares, dry chemical bags and dry chemical extinguishers and could not extinguish one area of the chimney that was routed through an old fireplace on the first floor that had been closed up with brick. The owner was advised that entry had to be made into that area to extinguish the fire and crews took down part of the brick wall to access the area that was burning and then quickly extinguished the fire stopping it from extending any further into the structure.
