Company 95 was dispatched at 1023 hours for Ladder 95 and Engine 95 for a 2nd alarm structure fire at the Buddhist Society of Philadelphia camp on Conrad Road in Hereford Township. At 1025 hours Company 95 was again dispatched now for a 3rd alarm structure fire at the facility, now calling for Engine 95-1 and Tanker 95, all apparatus responded and spent most of the day working the fire with several other Berks County and Lehigh County Fire Companies. The fire was continuing to advance through the building and Lt. Neubauer working with Chief 58 came up with a plan to stop the fire before it crossed a breezeway into the other structure by cutting a trench across the roof with observation access holes to stop the fire. (picture attached showing 95 Firefighters on the roof making the trench cut). Fire Commissioner Bealer, Captain Nunan, Firefighter Carlile and Firefighter Williams staffed the remaining apparatus along with crews from Amity Fire and Ladder 37 from New Hanover to assure the Boyertown Area remained covered for emergencies.
Thanks to Amity and New Hannover crews for spending the day.
