Company 95 members observed a large header of smoke above the area of the Reading Avenue Station and found the smoke was coming from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses church. Eastern Berks Regional Police were on location and reporting the fire as two members responded to the scene prior to dispatch and updated Berks County on the fire, that it was a bush on fire next to the building with some extension into the soffit of the building and heavy smoke was rolling out of the ridge vent and roof vent on the building. The two man crew extinguished the exterior fire and a detailed investigation began on the roof and in the attic when additional crews arrived. Investigation determined no extension into the attic or roof, just residual smoke from the exterior fire.
BAF&R was assisted by Eastern Berks Fire, Gilbertsville Fire, Earl Fire Co. and Boyertown Ambulance.
