While units were operating and wrapping up at the garbage truck fire, the pre-alert was transmitted at 17:28 hours for Oley Township for a structure fire in the unit block of Bortz Road at the Bortz Chainsaw Shop. Ladder 95 was due on automatic aid on the initial assignment to assist Oley Fire Company 5. Chief 95 freed up the crew from Engine 95-1 at the vehicle fire to respond back to the station to man Ladder 95. Assistant 5 arrived on location and reported a large commercial outbuilding well involved with exposure issues. Oley Engine 5, Earl Tanker 19, followed by Ladder 95 arrived and pulled numerous handlines to initiate an attack. As more apparatus arrived personnel were assisting in the operations. Upon arrival two civilians were seen on an adjacent commercial building roof and it was not known if they were trapped. The aerial was put into service but it was determined they were employees checking to make certain the fire had not spread to the adjacent building.
During the operations, Ladder 95 operator noticed there were several spot fires developing on wood piles across the street from the business from embers. At the same time a resident came to Captain 95-2 and advised there was a fire under the rear deck of the residence. Captain 95-2 advised command of the additional fires and requested assistance with apparatus. Brush 19-1 and Engine 19 were directed to these locations and the small fires were extinguished. Tanker 95 was also requested during the incident to supply water to the scene.
Personnel worked with numerous other departments to complete extinguishment and overhaul of the fire building and also the numerous other fires that developed from the embers. After the fire was placed under control and overhaul was completed on the fire building the company was released and placed available at 20:06 hours.
