Company 95 was dispatched at 0218 hours to 212 E Philadelphia Avenue reporting fire from the roof. All Tenants evacuated safely and crews from BAF&R, Eastern Berks Fire and Gilbertsville Fire began battling the fire. Chief 95 soon requested a second alarm for manpower which brought crews from Earl Township, Amity Township, New Hanover, Upper Pottsgrove, Upper Frederick and Ringing Hill was requested for their Tower. The fire was contained to the roof of the second floor and the third floor and Limerick was requested for an additional Ladder Truck. Boyertown Ambulance and Gilbertsville Ambulance stood by and handled Rehab. The Salvation Army Canteen Unit was on scene to keep Firefighters fed and drinks as well. The fire is under investigation by the State Police Fire Marshal. The residents will receive aid from the Red Cross and one resident was placed in temporary housing. Over fifty Firefighters battled the fire during the early morning hours with crews on scene until after 0630 hours.
