Company 95 was dispatched for a brush fire in the woods behind 916 Reading Avenue near Gift Oil at 1807 hours, no fire was found at that location and a Douglass Township Police Officer flagged down FC 95 and told him the fire was in a large mulch pile in the back lot of Beeghley Tree Service. Crews were directed to that location and Captain Neubauer and Deputy Wary decided to use Ladder 95 and attack the fire from above. Douglass Township Road Crew were contacted to respond with the Backhoe to open up access to the fire. BAF&R was assisted by Eastern Berks Fire & Rescue #97, Earl Township Fire #19 and Gilbertsville Fire & Rescue Montco #67. Crews were on location for three and half hours. Douglass Township Emergency Management Coordinator responded and he will have the Tree Service spread out the pile or remove it to make sure the fire is completely out.
