Company 95 was dispatched to a vehicle rollover on Ben Franklin Highway in Douglass Township and were recalled enroute. Engine 95-1 was turning around at Gift when they observed traffic stopped on Farmington Avenue and saw a vehicle on it’s side. They blocked the roadway and checked for injuries and called for Boyertown Ambulance who arrived and evaluated the occupants of the vehicle. Eastern Berks Regional Police responded as the crash occurred on the line between Colebrookdale and Douglass and they handled the crash until Douglass Police were available from the crash on Ben Franklin Highway and it was determined to be in Douglass Township. The vehicle was removed from the scene by AAA vendor Jaybird Towing. When the vehicle was up-righted the oil pan struck the roadway and spilled most of the engine oil on the edge of the roadway and the edge of the small stream. Absorbent pads and a boom were immediately used to keep the oil out of the stream. Douglass EMA Coordinator was notified of the spill.
Douglass Township Police are investigating the crash.
