6/14/2023 TREE INTO HOUSE PARTIAL COLLAPSE, 68 MILL STREET, COLEBROOKDALE

Company 95 was dispatched at 1642 hours for a tree into a residence at 68 Mill Street in Colebrookdale Township with no reported injuries. On arrival FC 95 was advised by a neighbor that the homeowners were still in the residence and would need to be extricated from the front door as they would have trouble negotiating the rear deck. Collapse 95 was immediately notified the the residence was occupied and we would need to extricate the residence who were not injured. Crews arrived and the task of removing a large amount of dead branched blocking the front door began. Crews cleared the path and then worked with EMS from Boyertown and Bally to extricate the occupants. There were also four cats in the residence that crews assisted the homeowner with capturing and confining them in crates so they could go with the owners. The Red Cross was contacted to provide aid to the couple and a family member arrived to help as well. Moyer’s restoration was contacted after talking to the homeowner to provide assistance with removing the tree and securing the residence after that was complete. Power was immediately shut off and locked out so it could not be re-energized due to the damage involving numerous electrical wires. A crane was brought in to remove the large limbs of the tree as well as remove the trunk of the tree from the home. Colebrookdale Township Commissioner Gamler was requested to respond to the scene reference the unsafe condition of the home and he dispatched LTL Consultants Engineer who posted the home as Unsafe. Once the tree was removed and the building was stable, BAF&R turned the property over to Moyer’s Restoration and Crews cleared just after 2000 hours.
