Company 95 was dispatched to the rear of 406 S. Reading Avenue for a structure fire that was reported by Captain 95-2. FC 95 arrived on location and reported the shed behind 40 Warwick Street was well off. Crews arrived and Engine 95-1 took 1st in Engine position and lines were pulled to fight the fire while a 5″ supply line was stretched out across S. Reading Avenue to the hydrant across the street in front of the Salvation Army Building where Engine 67 set up water supply. Crews needed to remove the metal roof to access the smoldering roof structure. Engine 95 was moved into position after the fire was extinguished to cover the structure with foam to assure the fire was completely extinguished. BAF&R was assisted by Eastern Berks Regional Police, Eastern Berks Fire Co. and Gilbertsville Fire Company.
State Police Fire Marshal will be investigating the fire.
