Company 95 was dispatched at 0923 hours to the 800 Block of Rt 100 at the bridge for a tractor trailer tanker loaded with diesel fuel that went off the roadway jack-knifed and struck the bridge, reported with injuries and smoke from the truck. Crews arrived and found no fire and Boyertown Ambulance was treating the driver. Fire Police shut down Rt 100 between Mills Street and Township Line Road. Mt Penn Spill 1 was dispatched due to fluids leaking from the Truck and potential risk from the tanker trailer. Fire Police from Eastern Berks Fire, Earl Township Fire and Gilbertsville Fire & Rescue assisted BAF&R Fire Police with closing Rt 100. Penn DOT was dispatched due to the damage to the guiderail and the bridge. Crews assisted Berks-Mont Towing with removal of the truck, trailer and debris. Crews cleared the scene after 1200 hours.
Eastern Berks Regional Police are investigating the crash.
