Company 95 was dispatched to 384 Mill Street in Colebrookdale Township at 2331 hours for a reported house fire. Eastern Berks Regional Police arrived on location as one of the occupants jumped from a second floor window to escape the fire, the Officer carried her across the street to await EMS from Boyertown Ambulance. The other occupant of the home was able to self extricate from the burning structure. As crews arrived and began battling the blaze a 100 pound Propane tank on the left rear corner of the house began venting off and flames were shooting into the air from the tank. Crews were able to get that fire under control and moved the tank to rear of the yard so it was no longer a threat. Crews battled the fire for nearly an hour when Chief Deiterich requested a second alarm. In total there were ten fire companies on scene for a few hours to get the fire extinguished. Crews cleared the scene around 0300 hours on April 8, 2025. BAF&R was assisted by Eastern Berks Fire & Rescue, Earl Township Fire Company, Gilbertsville Fire Company, Amity Fire Company, Oley Fire Company, Monarch Fire Company, Mt Penn Fire Company, New Hanover Fire Company and Upper Pottsgrove Fire Company. Boyertown Ambulance was assisted at the scene by Bally Ambulance and Gilbertsville Ambulance. Sanatoga Fire Company provided stand-by cover for the area at BAF&R Warwick Station. The American Red Cross responded to assist the family with housing needs. Moyer’s Restoration was contacted to secure the home after it was extinguished. The Colebrookdale Township Fire Marshal was on scene and is investigating the cause. The residents were alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms in the residence.
