04/09/2025 – At 1055 hours Station 95 was requested by the Eastern Berks Regional Police to respond to the Boyertown Area Multi Service building at 200 West Spring Street in the Borough to evaluate a structure. The police were dispatched to an accident with no injuries and discovered a vehicle had backed into the wall of the structure causing damage. Personnel from the Special Operations Division arrived with Collapse 95 and determined that the vehicle had pushed a stone and frame wall causing a depression of about 2’ intrusion in the wall.
Upon entering the building the damage had occurred in a restroom and several of the framing studs were pushed off the wall base plate and the drywall and tile were also pushed in. Personnel began checking to assure the utilities were secure to the room due to electrical circuits being compromised. Personnel also check the second floor and condition of the damaged wall at the top plate where the studs attach.
Upon conversing with the property management, it was determined to contact a restoration company to secure the wall. They had also contacted their electrician to secure the affected circuits. Personnel removed the damaged wall coverings to expose how many wall studs were affected and upon arrival of the restoration company, personnel discussed and a plan was agreed upon to do a temporary repair to assure the wall was secure and no further threat of collapse would occur. The company was placed available and returned at 1200 hours.
